Vintage Hollywood Movie Star Patterns

Rare vintage sewing patterns from  the 1930s-’40s by the Hollywood Pattern Company feature famous movie stars. These vintage patterns are a treasure trove for the designer or collector. Here is a beautiful example of a Bette Davis  1930s dress pattern by Hollywood Patterns, its listed  at  sovintagepatterns.com

Hollywood has always been a trendsetter; it helped launch fashion trends from a movie or the red carpet. Fashionistas have always tried to copy the look of their favorite movie star. In the 1930s a clothing pattern company launched its Hollywood Patterns, cashing in the public hunger to have that Hollywood movie star look.
Here's and example of Carole Lombard its listed  at  sovintagepatterns.com

1930s Vintage Patterns

There is  something about 1930s patterns that  just screams beauty and uniqueness to me. Such pretty necklines and sleeve designs! At first glance the designs look simple, then you notice the  lovely small details that help create the stunning styles.

SO VINTAGE PATTERNS WEEKLY

Welcome to So Vintage Patterns blog! Here we hope we can inspire you to collect and use old vintage sewing patterns. By using vintage patterns you are able to create one of a kind unique clothing for yourself, never again be caught with the same dress/outfit as someone else's, ever again.
You are in command! You choose exactly the style you want, you choose the fabric, notions and you have an 'original' for a fraction of the price.

Everyday we hear ladies complaining that they are tired of the mass produced clothing made to hang pretty on a hanger but not on the body. Vintage patterns were made with the lady's figure in mind, the styles are made to flatter the figure something that seems to have escaped the clothing industry in the last few years.
Vintage sewing patterns offer you a choice of any style you can dream of ! From the flirty flattering 1930s just take a peek at Classic Turner channel to catch glimpses of the wide array of fashions such as the 1930s. Those to die for evening fashions of Norah from the Thin Man movies to the sporty long slim look of day clothes.
Turn a decade and the 1940s offer the polished tailored Katherine Hepburn pants and weskits (vests) to the Joan Crawford suits, not to forget the Bette Davis side draped dresses or the sleek look of young Lauren Bacall . Or look for the famous and famous to become Hollywood stars and starlets featured on the collectible Hollywood Patterns, perfect swing era clothing.
The 1950s offer such a fabulous choice -anything goes! From the twirling full circle skirted dress to the sensational figure show off slim fitted dress such as what Ava Gardner or Sophia Loren would have worn don't forget those halter dresses oh so Marilyn Monroe.
Then enter the Audrey Hepburn days of pure simple elegance, Jackie Kennedy suits and don't forget the huge selection of slim sheaths!
And of course then there is the Mod 1960s with mini's and Twiggy fashions, A Lines, hots pants to name a few all easy to make in an evening or over the weekend! The 1970s are really a great choice with neat designs from up and coming designers such as Betsey Johnson, Willi Smith, Kenzo, to mention only a few but can't forget of course the mother of all 1970s patterns the Diane Von Furstenburg Vogue 1549 & 1548 wrap dress!
You can never say clothing is boring with so many different decades to choose from and thousands of styles all fully wearable and back in style !
We are finding a cottage industry popping up in home sewing for the people that cannot sew either don't know how or just do not have the time. Check your local newspapers and you'll find a number of ads advertising sewing services for very reasonable prices.

We hope to update our blog on a weekly basis.
Next week, seeing the Holiday Season with all its wonderful parties that exciting time to show off your cocktail or evening gowns, are just around the corner, we'll talk about evening wear!
